For those who checked out the 2012 Cinemalaya Goes UP schedule and didn’t see Sta. Nina, Bwakaw, and Mga Mumunting Lihim on the list, don’t despair. They will be all getting commercial releases soon (amid this statement from the 2012 Cinemalaya Goes UP page).
Mga Mumunting Lihim will be out on August 22, and has already gotten a PG-13 rating. According to Bwakaw’s Facebook page, the film’s is slated for a theatrical release in a month or two.
Meanwhile, Sta. Nina being slated for a theatrical release is not really surprising, considering the amount of publicity it has gotten on ABS-CBN. Laya even commented that the film’s trailer was basically shown a lot during Walang Hanggan’s ad breaks – no network won’t waste primetime ad spots to promote a film that’s not going to be released nationwide.
