At the hospital, Jasmine has gone critical, and as the doctors work on her, Alfred prays at her bedside. Since Leo has put the seed into his mind that he’s responsible for the accident by changing his mind about becoming a priest (augh), Alfred now prays that if Jasmine recovers, he will go to Rome and become a priest. Afterwards, Jasmine’s condition stabilizes… so Alfred heads for Rome. Leo goes with him, like a good dad.
…so that they will both be safely out of the way when the assassin does a hit on Governor Saguirre in the most flamboyant way possible– he throws bombs in the way of Saguirre’s motorcade, then shoots the governor when he goes out of the car. He’s also shot by one of Saguirre’s bodyguards, though, and dies. In Rome, Leo receives the news with relief.
Asked by the press for information, Edson denies that his father’s death was connected with Cindy Valderama’s accident. Afterwards, he tells his mother that he’s seen the assassin before– he was hiding and listening when his father’s man brought the assassin to the governor after the failed attempt on Leo– so he’s pretty sure that the man had a personal grudge against his father and was not connected to the Valderamas.
