First of all, I’d like to apologize to all our readers. I got sick midway through Amaya, and then my TV went on the fritz as well. Since it was a daily, by the time I got well enough to resume recapping, I’d fallen so way behind there was no hope of catching up. I’m the only one doing TV recaps, so it was really hard. Then I moved back to my hometown, and with all of that and getting settled again and stabilizing my computer and internet connection, I’ve only resurfaced recently. On the good side, I’ve been watching TV regularly and when I realized I’d started yelling at the TV again (it’s a family trait I think, even my parents do it, so drama-watching time is really noisy if everyone’s watching), I figured I might as well write about it. The only problem I foresee is that I’ll have to switch to discussing only Channel 2 dramas for a while, since people here are mighty touchy about switching to other channels. I’d like to get some input from people watching Channel 2 and Channel 5 though– like, what’s up with the new Valiente, and is Nandito Ako any good (with David Archuleta, yes, that American Idol runner-up David Archuleta), and Felina as well? And I guess I’ll have to switch to weekly recaps instead of dailies, to lessen the burden.
Well, on to the dramas. I really only came in on the latter parts of Maria la del Barrio and Budoy, so I can only guess at what happened in the first parts of these dramas. This is where the local dramas’ tendency to flashbacks and recap dialogue came in handy, though you may feel free to correct me if I’ve drawn wrong conclusions.
I didn’t watch the original Maria la del Barrio, so I don’t know how it went. The local version had Erich Gonzales and Enchong Dee as Maria and Luis, caught in a feud between frenemies Sandra and Victoria, their respective mothers. Victoria (Angel Aquino) is the rich girl who’s so used to getting everything her way that she doesn’t care who gets hurt, and Sandra (Assunta de Rossi, and I am trying to get used to the fact that she’s only 29 and playing the mom of a grown-up young woman in this drama) is her best friend and business partner in the furniture company
