Usbog can’t believe that the chief alabay Amaya is the woman of the prophecy. Bagani tells him that Amaya was born with a snake-twin. She’s the one destined to kill his father. He asks Usbog to keep the secret and not tell anyone, since he knows how important Amaya is to Bagani. But if Usbog sees that Amaya is going to do something that will endanger the rajah’s life, he has to open his mouth, but only if he’s very sure that the rajah’s life is in the balance. Bagani says it hurts him to do this, that he’s allowing Usbog to tell the rajah Amaya’s secret. He only hopes that she won’t do anything– he doesn’t want her to come to grief.
Lingayan and Banuk find the rajah in the main hall, and she says she thought he’d gone into his room. Is something troubling him? He asks her if she hates his decision about Bagani. She says no– she has no right to be angry with him because she knows he’s only doing his duty to their realm. Even then, part of her heart wishes he’d do his duty to Bagani as his father. He says that she knows he can’t help Bagani because he’s been proven guilty. It pained him greatly to have to pronounce judgment on his own son, but he had to in order not to lose his people’s trust in him.
Just then Paratawag comes in and makes his obeisance. Hilway has sent him to tell the rajah of her resignation.
Atubang arrives at the infirmary to find what had happened to his son. Hilway tells him not to worry– Angaway will live, they are just waiting for the antidote to arrive. Asinas asks where the antidote will come from. Hilway and Atubang exchange glances, while Silay looks wary. Hilway doesn’t answer Asinas’s question– she tells Atubang to go with her so they can speak privately.
At the beach, Usbog is still stunned by the revelations he’d heard from Bagani. His friends call to him to help them with the boat, joking that it seems he hasn’t accepted that he’s being left behind. He says that’s not it, but he can’t tell them his problem. They joke about him having secrets, but Bagani arrives and tells them to leave him be. He then tells Usbog to take care, and to keep his secret. Usbog promises to keep it with his life. Bagani and the other attendants then set off, leaving Usbog on the shore. Bayang sings a farewell song, remembering when she first met him, and how good he was to her. He doesn’t deserve a fate like this, but the things they believe in are different. So she begs forgiveness for adding to his pain, and wishes him well on his journey. At the conclusion of the scene, Amaya arrives to tell her what Hilway has decided, saying that now she can’t use or threaten Amaya. Bayang is happy about this, but she has to tell Amaya something. Amaya realizes too late that Bayang is crying. Bayang takes her hand, and tells her that Bagani has said farewell to his family and is going away. Amaya asks if she’s told Bagani why Amaya had to betray him. and Bayang lies and says she did, but he disregarded it. Amaya cries that he can’t leave. She clings to Bayang for a moment then runs for the beach…
Hilway tells Atubang that Amaya’s snake-twin bit Angaway, and Amaya made her resign in return for the antidote. Atubang asks why she let Amayadothat toher–
